Our Story

Themselves highly qualified in the field of science and technology, in 2004 the InTech founders started out with an inspiring mission - to provide barrier-free access to a rich collection of superior scientific literature, and to add to the body of free knowledge available under the Open Access label.

Based on the founders' backgrounds, InTech started publishing journals and books covering the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Manufacturing, Operations Research, Environmental Engineering, Nanotechnology, Computer Science, Renewable Energy and Electrical Engineering. 

In 2010 InTech expanded its publishing program into the field of Medicine, encompassing a broad spectrum of disciplines.

InTech takes great pride in having published a considerable number of relevant scientific publications, and in having built strong relationships with leading institutions, organizations and internationally renowned scholars.

  • In 2005 we published our first book Cutting Edge Robotics. In 2010, on the fifth anniversary, we released a new and updated version of the book Cutting Edge Robotics 2010
  • In 2006, upon NASA's request, we published a special issue of our publication “International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems”, to which NASA's scientists contributed their scientific achievements regarding the Mars Exploration Rover missions
  • In 2010 we launched InTechOpen, an online reading platform for sharing, connecting and communicating insights within a dynamic and international scientific community
  • The Fraunhofer Society, Europe's largest organization for applied research, has recommended InTech publications to all its members
  • Prior to publication, all research papers must pass a rigorous selection and review procedure
  • Over 1400 Book Editors and 278 reviewers currently work to guarantee the quality of InTech publications
